All Things Tampa Bay, Coming To Tampa Bay

Gasparilla Pirates Take Over Tampa Bay

Gasparilla Season is here! A Tampa Bay tradition that has been around for over 100 years started off today with the  McDonald’s Children’s Gasparilla ExtravaganzaChildren’s Gasparilla Parade along Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa, and tonight the Gasparila “Piratechnic” Extravaganza.

Next weekend is when the real shenanigans begin with the Gasparilla Invasion! The Jose Gasparilla will sail into Hillsborough Bay, cannons a-blazing, guns a-flashing, and hundreds of vessels of all sizes serving as their escort to their final destination of the Tampa Convention Center where the Gasparilla Invasion Brunch is held and where the Ye Mystic Krewe of the Gasparilla demand the key to the city of Tampa from the Mayor! Following the invasion is where more than 300,000 in attendance along Bay Shore Blvd will be awaiting beads and doubloons galore as the Parade of Pirates rolls through! That evening the jolly pirates hold the Pirate Fest Street Festival where they request you to join in live music and celebration.

The history and name of this Tampa tradition traces back to the legendary antics of Jose Gaspar. The success of early invasions encouraged the creation of additional Gasparilla events. 2015 Gasparilla Events:
